CALL FOR POSTER PRESENTATION AT THE CONFERENCE IN ZAMBIA Call for papers, Conferences

ICOM Zambia, INTERCOM, ICR, ICOM AFRICA, and NATHIST are organising an International Museum Conference on a theme, “Museum Leadership in the 21st Century: Regional Challenges and Global Impacts”  in Livingstone, Zambia, from Nov 1st to Nov 5th , 2024 with a key focus on managing the museum through regional challenges and global impacts.

We are inviting Museum professionals, academic institution, and heritage practitioners for poster Participation/submission. The outlines of the event are defined by further four sub- themes. We encourage the authors to share different perspectives of museum management and actions, with an additional focus on regional and natural history museums. We are looking for diverse scenarios on how various museums, from national to local,  meet their professional challenges in the context of sustainability, use of new technologies, adaptive leadership, and flexible management. We welcome contributions that address the following non-exhaustive list of topics:

  • Museum fundraising
  • Digital transformation
  • Strategic planning
  • Museum leadership: current challenges

We welcome a diversity of submissions, in English or French, that can inform the sector on what is being done or emerging in this sphere and develop inspirational ideas for future practice.

Submission process

Abstracts of between 250 and 300 words, written in English / French should be submitted for selection to info.icr23@gmail.com & marthaikabongo2014@gmail.com (*Please use both email address for submission). An abstract is a summary of described your idea for the poster presentation. The Poster session will be held in the Livingstone Museum, Zambia from Nov 2nd to Nov 5th. On the inaugural day each presenter will have 2-3 minutes to speak about his/her idea and theme behind the poster.

All accepted speakers will be ensured a discounted attendance fee.

The following information should be included with the abstract:

  • Title of submitted poster, word count
  • Name(s) of author(s)
  • Author(s) ICOM number(s)
  • Professional background up to 85 words
  • Agreement that the poster can be made available on the partner websites

The abstract submission deadline is September 10th , 2024.
