We are looking forward to welcome you in Paraguay in November 2023! We would like to offer more information about the venue and the travel options by air and land to attend the conference.

Registration for the conference is free and a call for papers to be presented during the sessions will be open soon.

Event venue: ITAIPU Binacional and ITAIPU Guaraní Land Museum.
ITAIPU Binacional is the world´s largest generator of renewable clean energy, binational property of Paraguay and Brazil and located on the Paraná River, within the limits of the city of Hernandarias on the Paraguayan side. ITAIPU is the engine of Paraguay’s technological, social, cultural and environmental development, promoting various communitarian, inter-institutional and multinational projects, seeking to contribute to the creation of a sustainable society. Its area of influence makes up the ITAIPU Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO in 2017: https://en.unesco.org/biosphere/lac/itaipu

The ITAIPU MUSEUM was created in 1979 to house the samples from the archaeological, historical, anthropological and florifaunistic research carried out in the departments of Alto Paraná and Canindeyú during the construction of the dam and the creation of the reservoir. Over the years, it has become into one of the country’s leading museums, carrying out conservation, research and educational programs to promote the region’s cultural and natural heritage.

The meeting will take place at the Visitors Reception Center of ITAIPU, located in the city of Hernandarias, Paraguay.

How to get there
The ITAIPU Guaraní Land Museum is strategically located in the Triple Border area (Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina), so it can be accessed through any of the international airports of Foz do Yguazu (Brazil), Puerto Iguazu (Argentina) and Ciudad del Este (Paraguay). Some hotels offer free transfer service from the airport to the accommodation.
From Asunción (Paraguay)
By plane to the Silvio Pettirossi International Airport. To travel to Ciudad del Este, you can take a connection flight to the Guaraní International Airport or travel by bus (there are different companies that leave almost every two hours from the Asunción Terminal to the Ciudad del Este Terminal; for safety and comfort reasons, we recommend traveling with the company Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. Bus tickets can be purchased online at www.nsa.com.py, or at the window at the Terminal). The journey by land takes approximately 5 hours.
From Ciudad del Este (Paraguay)
By plane to the Guaraní International Airport. Currently, this airport is only receiving connection flights from Asunción: https://www.paranair.com/en-us/home-english-2/
From Foz de Yguazu (Brazil)
By plane to Cataratas International Airport. There are different options to get to Ciudad del Este or Hernandarias, either by taxi or by bus.
From Puerto Iguazu (Argentina)
By plane to the Cataratas del Iguazu International Airport. There are different options to get to Ciudad del Este or Hernandarias, either by taxi or by bus.
Accommodation.
In Ciudad del Este and Hernandarias, there are different accommodation options of varied price and service. Family hostels are also available, with breakfast service included, at a cheaper price.
The organization will be releasing a list of recommended hotels with special price rate for participants of the conference.
Visa requirements

Sanitary requirements for entry to Paraguay

Proof of vaccination for COVID 19 is not currently required to enter Paraguay. We will let you know if the situation changes in the following months.

Through Resolution SG No. 040/2022, the Ministry of Health establishes that all travelers, national or foreign, who come from risk areas: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Venezuela, must be vaccinated against Yellow Fever and have the International Vaccination Certificate.

The personnel of the transport company may require the presentation of the International Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever at the time of the purchase of the ticket or by officials of the surveillance area of the Ministry of Health before carrying out the migratory procedures.

Pre and post conference cultural program

The organization will be communicating about cultural and touristic activities to be carried out in the days before or after the conference. Some of these activities may have a fee that must be paid by the participant.

Cómo llegar

El MUSEO de ITAIPU Tierra Guaraní se encuentra estratégicamente ubicado en la zona de la Triple Frontera (Paraguay, Brasil y Argentina), por lo que se puede acceder a él a través de cualquiera de los aeropuertos internacionales de Foz do Yguazu (Brasil), Puerto Iguazú (Argentina) y Ciudad del Este (Paraguay). Algunos hoteles ofrecen servicio de traslado gratuito desde el aeropuerto hasta el alojamiento.

Desde Asunción (Paraguay)

En avión hasta el Aeropuerto Internacional Silvio Pettirossi. Para viajar a Ciudad del Este se puede tomar un vuelo de conexión al Aeropuerto Internacional Guaraní o viajar en bus (existen diferentes compañías que salen casi cada dos horas desde el Terminal de Asunción hacia el Terminal de Ciudad del Este; por seguridad y comodidad, recomendamos viajar con la empresa Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. Los boletos de bus se pueden comprar en línea en www.nsa.com.py, o en ventanilla en la Terminal). El viaje por tierra dura aproximadamente 5 horas.

Desde Ciudad del Este (Paraguay)

Por avión hasta el Aeropuerto Internacional Guaraní. Actualmente, este aeropuerto solo recibe vuelos de conexión desde Asunción: https://www.paranair.com/en-us/home-english-2/

Desde Foz de Yguazú (Brasil)

Alojamiento

En Ciudad del Este y Hernandarias existen diferentes opciones de alojamiento de variado precio y servicio. También hay disponible albergues familiares, con servicio de desayuno incluido, a un precio más económico.

La organización publicará una lista de hoteles recomendados con tarifas especiales para los participantes de la conferencia.

Requisitos de visa

Requisitos sanitarios para el ingreso a Paraguay

Actualmente no se requiere prueba de vacunación para COVID 19 para ingresar a Paraguay. Avisaremos si la situación cambia en los próximos meses.

Mediante la Resolución SG N° 040/2022, el Ministerio de Salud establece que todo viajero, nacional o extranjero, que provenga de zonas de riesgo: Brasil, Bolivia, Perú y Venezuela, deberá estar vacunado contra la Fiebre Amarilla y contar con el Certificado Internacional de Vacunación.

El personal de la empresa de transporte podrá requerir la presentación del Certificado Internacional de Vacunación contra la Fiebre Amarilla al momento de la compra del boleto o por funcionarios del área de vigilancia del Ministerio de Salud antes de realizar los trámites migratorios.

Programa cultural pre y post conferencia.

La organización estará informando sobre las actividades culturales y turísticas a realizar en los días previos o posteriores a la conferencia. Algunas de estas actividades pueden tener un costo que debe ser abonado por el participante.
